Tara first met Sangeeta during one of her visits to the United States. After just a couple of mentoring sessions at the Stanford campus, she immediately knew she wanted Sangeeta as her mentor. Their journey then continued through regular online sessions during Tara’s years at Irvington High School.
Sangeeta helped Tara discover her interests, define her long-term goals, build a meaningful résumé, and choose educational opportunities and extracurricular activities that truly reflected her aspirations. Equally important, she helped Tara develop time-management skills, navigate everyday challenges with friends and classmates, and grow into a more confident and self-aware individual.

One of the biggest ways she helped me was by guiding me through the development of my signature project , ‘Trevive’. She constantly pushed me to think deeper, ask better questions, and build something that wasn’t just impressive on paper but was genuinely meaningful to me. Looking back, that project became one of the strongest parts of my application because it was an authentic reflection of who I am.
What made the biggest difference was that she never told me what colleges wanted to hear. Instead, she helped me understand my own strengths and encouraged me to present them honestly. Whether it was brainstorming ideas, refining essays, or connecting different parts of my journey into a coherent narrative, she was incredibly thoughtful, patient, and invested in every step of the process.
